Gerardo Scaglione

Double Bass

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1979 and currently based in France. He studied at the “Juan José Castro” Buenos Aires Conservatoire under Maestro Ricardo Planas (Principal at the Colon Theater Orchestra). Simultaneously takes lessons in Tango style given by Horacio Cabarcos (Double Bass player at the Leopoldo Federico Orchestra). He then completed a Masters in Double Bass at Santa Cecilia Conservatoire of Rome under Massimo Giorgi. Gerardo Scaglione took Superior Studies in Double Bass with Maestro Thomas Martin, with Maestro Rinat Ibragimov, in Italy with Mº Giuseppe Etorre, in France with Mº Thierry Barbé, in U.S.A. with MºCatalin Rotaru, and courses in Argentina with MºOfelia Stoll. He’s nowadays one of the most specialized Tango Double bass players. He is member of the Tiroler Festspiele Orchestra in Austria. During his career Gerardo has recorded more than 20 albums with several chamber groups and Tango groups for different labels some of them winners of important prizes in Argentina. He usually performs as soloist playing the Double Bass Masterpieces of Bottesini, Koussevitzky and Astor Piazzolla among others with several Orchestras and with International Pianist Lorena Eckell numerous times on commercial radio and notable festivals and societies throughout Latinamerica.
